The Korean Association for the Study of Intestinal Diseases (KASID) has initiated the Region-Specific Forum (RSF) since 2016 in International Meetings on Intestinal Disease in Conjunction of KASID (IMKASID). Regional Academic Partnership for Intestinal Diseases (RAPID), suggested by KASID, is a more extended and comprehensive partnership of the RSF network, promoting sustainable academic exchange through education and research. On Jan 14, 2023, the Indonesian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG), KASID, Myanmar Gastroenterology & Liver Society (MGLS), Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology & Hepatology (MSGH), and the Vietnam Association of Gastroenterology (VNAGE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for participating in RAPID. The Gastroenterological Association of Thailand (GAT), through its enterocolonic club, has been involved with RAPID since its inception and is also officially joining RAPID. We will discuss how we can further develop RAPID in this meeting.

While there are some differences between countries, clinicians in Asia are experiencing an overall increase in the incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colorectal cancer (CRC). Moreover, we continue to encounter patients with small bowel bleeding for which, unlike peptic ulcer diseases, there are no effective pharmacologic treatments. In this session, experts from around Asia will discuss the differential diagnosis of IBD, the use of immunomodulators in IBD, the challenges of early detection of colorectal cancer in Asia and how to overcome them, and diagnostic and treatment strategies for patients with suspected small bowel bleeding.
